Privacy policy

This policy explains what NameBento does with your personal data. The short version: we collect an email address if you subscribe, whatever you write if you email us, and nothing else that identifies you.

The data controller is NameBento's publisher, identified in our terms. For anything in this policy, write to hello@namebento.com.

What we collect, and why

If you subscribe

Your email address, so we can tell you when new names go up. The legal basis is your consent, given when you submit the form. Subscriptions are managed by Beehiiv, which stores the address and records whether emails were opened. We also note which page you signed up from and the site that sent you there, if any.

If you buy a domain

Purchases happen on Namecheap Market, under Namecheap's own terms and privacy policy. Namecheap tells us which domain sold and for how much. We do not see your card details.

If you email us

Your email address and your message, so we can reply. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering you.

When you browse

Our host, Netlify, keeps standard server logs including IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running. We set no cookies and run no analytics, so this site has no cookie banner.

Who else processes your data

• Beehiiv: the subscriber list and the emails.
• Namecheap: payment and delivery of a domain you buy.
• Netlify: hosting and server logs.

These are based outside the EU. Transfers rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for anyone's marketing but our own.

How long we keep it

Your email stays on the subscriber list until you unsubscribe, after which it is removed. Emails you send us are kept for up to three years, so we have the thread if you write again.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask to see the data we hold on you, correct it, have it deleted, restrict or object to how we use it, and receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and using it is enough.

Write to hello@namebento.com. We answer within one month. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the CNIL, the French data protection authority, at cnil.fr.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date above changes with it.
